Friday September 15, 2017 - Gender Voice test

WEB SITE: http://voice-primaryobjects.rhcloud.com/

Cut/Paste this .wav file into the above web site to see results. Give the site a few seconds to analyze the file.

This web site will test your voice and determine its gender based on:

Voice Tips and Tricks
- Pitch, combined with intonation (the rise and fall of the voice in speaking), are important factors in classifying male versus female.
- Male classified voices tend to be low and within a narrow range of pitch (ie., relatively monotone).
- Female classified voices tend to be higher in pitch and fluctuate frequency to a much greater degree.
- Female classified voices often rise in frequency at the end of a sentence, as if asking a question.

How does it work?

This application uses a method of artificial intelligence, called machine learning, to determine the gender of a voice.

The program was trained on a dataset of 3,168 voice samples, split between male and female voices. By analyzing the acoustic properties of the voices, the program is able to achieve 89% accuracy on the test set.

Friday January 20, 2017 - Informative Personal Video

This is a short personal story of a Transwoman who transitioned while working as a firefighter.

Some people might consider today a gloomy day for our community. Just remember, the majority of the population is on our side. Its always darkest before the light.

This is a nice story to help uplift today.

Thursday December 8, 2016 - Worked thru the night

I did not sleep last night as I had an emergency deadline for a client. Girl, when I was younger, under 50, I use to work at my office all night, come home to shower and then teach four classes. I can not do that anymore.

Yesterday, I had to make phone calls the gather some information for my client. Out of seven calls, two of the callers used female pronouns before correcting themselves. I told both of them, it was not problem. The first one, I figured was a mistake, but the second one made me wonder.

I have not really worked on my voice yet. But I do try to talk slower and slightly softer. I talk above  my throat and in a softer tone. I try and add a more sing song-ness to my voice.

I was not trying to speak any different, it maybe working.I am going to try this some more just to see if I get more female pronouns on the phone. This is a good way to practice.

Saturday is my 6th month measuring post. Wow, I can not believe its been six months. I can tell there have been more changes. This is the first time since February 2010, that I did not go to the gym the entire month. I have got to get motivated to get back in there.

Monday September 5, 2016 - Time to work on voice.

I feel confident and comfortable while out and I am learning to have conversations with other woman while in public. Also, I am starting conversations with store clerks.

So now I think its time for me to start working on my voice. Currently, I try to soften my voice and talk less using my chest and more through my nose. I know I do not practice nearly enough.

I am committing to daily practice a few times a day. I may end up reaching out to a coach for instant feedback.

However, I found this older (2 years ago) reddit post that I am going to use as a starting point. I like the steps chosen and the comments are helpful.

Thursday November 19, 2015 - Voice

I have decided to start preparing for voice transition. After this past Saturday, I know I will be out more as Susan than a Femboy. As a Femboy, I did not worry that much about my voice because I considered myself a feminine male. But Susan is a women and needs to present a more feminine voice.

I think for me, I need to start with a personal one-on-one coach. I know there are some great video tutorials and CD lessons. But I need that personal touch where my personal questions can be answered and I can learn to hear Susan's voice.

I am going to follow the steps listed in the infographic below. First I need to develop a plan. So I am going to start by interviewing both local and national speech therapists that specialize in Transwomen voices. Once I choose a coach, I hope that person will assist me in developing my plan.

Financially, I will be finished with electrology soon. I am down to $140 per month from $280 per month in late December. So, I am going to convert that expense to voice lessons and tools.

Any suggestions on a therapist or courses, like the one by Marian of Crossing T's and Dotting I's would be appreciated.

For me, at least the first three steps will require a voice coach. I need help developing my plan and goals, establishing my baseline and learning the fundamentals.

At some future point, I will mix a voice coach with a video and/or audio course.

Wednesday June 10, 2015 - Hanging out with my brother

Yesterday was my electrology session. This was my first session in the new two week cycle. During the weekly sessions, my tech was down to 45 minutes to clear my face. We both agreed adjust my schedule to every two weeks.

After this first two week cycle, it took about 80 minutes to clear my face. Most of my growth in under the center of my neck. There was very little along the sideburn and cheek area. Also there is not much in the mustache area. Even just a few hairs in that mustache area and with numbing cream my eyes still water.

One problem was waiting two weeks allowed my hairs to grow too long. I was asked to trim my hairs (do not shave them) before I return in two weeks. That is going to be tough under my neck, but I will do it about 5 days before my next appointment on the 23rd of June.

We had a nice general talk and I practiced my voice. I am going to start lessons soon. I have been reading about voice work. I think I need a voice coach in the beginning to help me with feedback and confidence building. Then its just a matter of practice.

I put on my makeup after my session because my watering eyes cause my mascara to run and the work around my lips rub off my lip gloss.

I have started wearing lipstick and adding gloss for sheen. You may have noticed it over the last few pictures. I was trying it out first and of course there was no reaction from the public. Lipstick is now a new must when out in Femboy mode.

I am using an older lipstick color. I am going to go lipstick shopping and update my color to a more subtle red. This red is not bad but I its a little off to me. I do not know what I want, but like my wigs, I will know it once I try it.

Once I put on my makeup, I decided to go visit my brother and wait on the movie. I went to Wendy's first to order lunch. I went inside and there was a good size lunch crowd. I ordered a small chili, side salad and a double stack hamburger. Because I did not have breakfast, I needed more calories. So the double stack hamburger added 460 calories to my chili salad of 200 calories. That is more calories than I like in one meal. Normally, I like to keep calorie count around 400. I would have had a small chili, side salad and a kids frosty (treat).

I spent the day with my brother at his condo working on a presentation and talking with him about his new cell phone repair business.

We had a good time and enjoyed working with him. He is now use to this appearance and we no longer discuss it or he seems to has no more questions about it. Last time I hung out with him, we went out and he appeared to have no issue with being with me in this mode.

I am lucky to have a brother who loves me no matter what.

Next week, I am going to see my mother and I will stay with my sister. She has more questions, so we will talk and I may tell my brother-in-law. That talk will be interesting because I consider him very religious. He is always talking about religion, Jesus and God. He does some part-preaching and they go to a very small a conservative church.

I look forward to that discussion because we have gotten along well over the decades.

Wednesday January 28, 2015 - MTF Voice

I love my Femboy look. Going out is not only natural but I am not under pressure to pass. However, as I move forward, I must decide whether to stop my journey here or move forward to a more female appearance.

As I continue to feminize, then I will be moving from Femboy to Female. Female mode will require better makeup and voice to make passing easiler.

At this time my main issue is that economically I need to spend most of my time as a male. However, I am changing my job and work and telling people around me in an attempt to be live in a feminine mode more often without reducing my income too much.

I have been researching makeup, voice and hair. I have written recent posts on hair and makeup, but not voice.

Today, I wanted to write about voice and include some of  the resources I use.

Currently my voice is very male. I have tried to feminize it, but I have not been able to practice enough. The technology is changing that makes developing a practice routine easier.

I use a phone app called PitchLab. It allows me to use my cellphone to practice and get feedback. This app is setup for guitars and the music industry but works great for instant feedback. I practice by talking into my phone and watching the meter. I also record my practice, so I can play it back.

For me the main problem is getting use to the internal hearing for my voice as I speak. I am not confident enough to trust my female voice during normal interaction with the public. But like makeup, I continue to practice and build my confidence.

Below are some of the videos I watch, a couple of nice reddit sites and a podcast.
