Another new TV show has been announced.
It is a reality show on TLC starring Jazz Jennings, the 14 year old transgender teen. The show will premiere this summer and 11 episodes will air.
The series will feature Jennings in her daily life, juggling her foray into high school while navigating how a transgender teen approaches dating and sleepovers all while avoiding male puberty.
All I can say is WOW!
For you older girls, like me, can you imagine what it would be like if in our teens there was a reality TV show about us. How would that has changed our lives and or self-esteem?
I continue to say that as I go out dressed, the public perception has changed. This show will continue that change.
I am not saying, everything is fine and that negative reaction such as violence (including murder) and harassment will end tomorrow. But if this show is successful, it will at least slow the state level attempts to reverse our gains.
With a young attractive and vivacious teen showing what its like to be trans, it will put a very positive face on our issues. Along with Ms. Cox's proposed September CBS show, Transparent (On Amazon Prime) and the movie Boy meets Girl, the list of positive transgender people on TV and the big screen is growing.
This is educating the general public that we are not to be feared as some rapist or molester.
The main problem is within our own minds from years (decades) of negative feeling and thoughts that were compounded everyday by the media, family, friends and the public.
Those days are quickly coming to an end and I am so happy to be here to witness it.
